This is how I healed through life’s illnesses- ailments of the body, angsts of the mind, loss of grounding in finances, and burn-out from professional and marital breakdown; after nearly twenty-one years of belonging to a cause. I wrote tiny poems and set up an Instagram account with my pen name migrainemuse and just kept writing, every day and every time I felt pain. Or when I felt sensory tingles silently provoking me to do something about my suppressed creativity. After a life-shift past forty-five, I sincerely felt I had to share my poetic way to healing. Here I am, trying to build a nest this late at night called the ‘poetry apothecary.’
This is where I share poetry for you.
Peace,
Shaza

About the Curator
Shaza is a multi-passionate creative who finds soulful moments through writing sensory prose poems, short-form pleasures and visual storytelling. She has studied various subjects of her interest which she feels have served for her as a web to capture and connect ideas and sculpt her thoughts to create, contemplate and serve; for a purpose destined by the Divine Presence. She is a mini watercolours artist, a certified Montessori educator for ages 3-12 and a bibliotherapist. She loves to read books slowly and is pursuing varied interests which include this newsletter- Poetry Apothecary which is reaching the mailboxes of her cozy community space titled ‘Soul Studio’.
She studied English Literature and Art in college but was encouraged to pursue business and so began her career in telecom and database administration. When the opportunity to study and work in education arose, Shaza embraced it and became a Montessori teacher, teaching children aged 2-12 years both in Pakistan and in Canada where she lived, worked and raised her family for over a decade. She has since returned to Pakistan and has worked as a teacher trainer for 6 years and after a major shift in her personal life, she hovers between both abodes.
